Five arrested in Naya Bazar robbery case

Siliguri, 29th August: Police arrested four people after questioning Bhabatosh Kumar Roy, accused in the robbery case at Siliguri’s Nayabazar.


The arrested accused have been identified as Amit Kumar Kesari (22), a resident of Ward no-05, Vivek Kumar Shah (24), a resident of Natun Para in Jalpaimore, Prakhar Kumar (26) of Debidanga, and Suraj Sahani (29), a resident of Rana Basti in Ward 18.

It is to be noted that a group of miscreants, on Friday afternoon, was on the run after robbing a shop at Naya Bazaar at gunpoint. While trying to flee away from the crime scene, the local youths and traders managed to nab one of the miscreants. Upon receiving the news, the Siliguri Police and Special Operations Group of Siliguri Police Commissionerate reached the spot.


After questioning Roy, the police learned about these four youths and arrested them on Saturday. On the other hand, the firearms recovered from their possession were fake. They were produced at Siliguri court today.
