Siliguri, 27th December: Two separate fire incidents in Siliguri’s Ward 25 and 6 have sparked panic and left locals in shock. Both incidents resulted in significant destruction, though fortunately, no fatalities have been reported.
In the first incident, a fire broke out in a house in the Milanpally area of Ward No. 25 under Siliguri Municipal Corporation. Reportedly, the house owner had left for work, and no one was present at the house at the time of the incident. Around noon, the residents in the locality noticed smoke emanating from the house and immediately informed the fire department. Two fire engines were dispatched to the scene, and the fire was brought under control. However, everything inside the house was gutted in the blaze.
Councillor Jayanta Saha visited the site after receiving the news. He stated that the house owner had been away for two days, and firefighters had to break open the door to enter the house. The cause of the fire is still unknown, and an investigation is underway.
In a separate incident in Ward No. 06, a massive fire erupted in an empty warehouse. Initially, the fire was spotted by the electricity department, which took immediate action to control the blaze. Later, two fire engines arrived, and the fire was brought under control. Police and fire officials are investigating the cause of this fire.
