Rajganj, 07th July: An incident of fire has been reported from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) party office at Takimari in Rajgnaj. Following the incident, the TMC party accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of the act. However, the latter has denied the allegations.
According to reports, there is a permanent party office of the TMC at Takimari under Mantadari Gram Panchayat. In the office, flags, banners, documents, along with furniture were burnt. Upon receiving the news, NJP Police and Milanpally Outpost police reached the spot.
In this regard, a TMC worker, Ashutosh Roy stated the said office to be adjacent to his house. According to him, on Friday morning, he woke up to the smell of something burning. As he approached closer he noticed fire inside the office. Following this, he informed the matter to the party leadership. Subsequently, they arrived at the spot and accessed the matter, and accused the opposition party of committing the act. Additionally, a local TMC leader Haripada Roy also made similar allegations, accusing the BJP of creating unrest in the area. He added that after meeting the party leadership, administrative steps would be initiated in this regard.
Meanwhile, BJP’s Rajganj Block President Nitai Mandal claimed that the party was not involved in the incident of fire at the TMC party office in Takimari. He accused the ruling TMC party of plotting a trap against the party workers. The Block President further accused the TMC party of torturing BJP workers and supporters at various places under the Rajganj block. Later, Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy also reached the spot and central forces were deployed for the maintenance of peace and order in the area.
