Fire engulfs six shops in Alipurduar’s Barobisha market

Alipurduar, 19th June: A devastating fire broke out at Barobisha market in Alipurduar district, resulting in the gutting of six shops. According to local sources, the incident occurred around 2:30 am on Sunday. The fire initially ignited at a clothes shop before quickly spreading to nearby shops, including another clothes shop, a shoe shop, a gold shop, and an adjacent store.


Upon noticing the escalating flames, individuals promptly alerted the fire department. The Barobisha fire department swiftly dispatched two vehicles to the scene. Additionally, two more fire engines from Tufanganj were deployed to assist in bringing the situation under control. The firefighters tirelessly battled the raging inferno for approximately three hours before successfully gaining control over the flames. Their efforts led to the containment of the fire, preventing further damage and potential loss of life. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and investigations are underway to ascertain the origin and circumstances surrounding the incident.
