Rajganj, 22nd December: A devastating fire broke out on Sunday afternoon, destroying several shops on Fulbari-Gajoldoba Canal Road at the Paramunda More.
Local sources reported that around 12:30 PM, the fire started in a butchery and quickly spread to nearby establishments. Locals initially attempted to douse the flames before alerting the police and fire services.
Upon receiving the call, officers from Bhorer Alo Police Station, along with two fire engines from Fulbari and Siliguri Fire Stations, rushed to the scene. After several hours of intense effort, the fire was finally brought under control. However, by that time, ten shops had been completely gutted.
The affected shops included a grocery store, stationery shop, tea stall, motorcycle garage, and a jewelry store, among others. Meanwhile, the cause of the fire remains unclear.
In response to the incident, Archana Roy, the Pradhan of the Mantadari Gram Panchayat, stated that several shops were destroyed in the blaze. She assured that the administration would investigate the cause of the fire, and the panchayat would provide assistance to the affected shopkeepers.
