Siliguri, 03rd June: A massive fire occurred in an illegal liquor store in the Bagrakote area under Ward No. 18 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Sunday, reducing the establishment to ashes. The incident has sparked widespread concern among residents who condemned the illicit activities associated with the bar.
Reports indicate that the store regularly opened in the evening and initiated illegal liquor sales. Additionally, the establishment had been operating as a hub for gambling activities. As a result, there was a rise in the number of outsiders in the locality.
On Sunday, a massive fire originated at the liquor store the cause of the fire remains unknown. The incident led to panic among the residents. Residents voiced that the impending risks surrounding the illegal liquor store had been rapidly increasing. They further demanded the immediate closure of the store.
In response to their grievances, local councilor Sanjay Sharma assured action against all forms of illegal activities. He pledged that necessary legal action would be taken against the liquor store.
