Siliguri, 09th December: Panic gripped the area after a fire broke out due to a short circuit in an electric pole in Surya Sen Street of Ward No. 22 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC).
As per reports, the locals overheard a loud sound and came out of their residences and witnessed a branch from a coconut tree on the electric pole engulfed with fire. Following this, the matter was informed to the fire and electricity department.
Upon receiving the news, a fire brigade engine arrived at the spot and doused the inferno. Subsequently, the electricity department workers initiated the removal of the dry branches of trees. The prompt response of the fire department and electricity department workers averted a bigger tragedy. In this regard, the locals have expressed their gratitude to the officials.
