Kharibari, 05th April: A sudden forest fire in the Tukriajhar forest area adjacent to Panitanki of Kharibari led to a commotion in the reserved forest area.
According to reports, on Friday afternoon, the locals spotted smoke emerging in the forest area and informed the police and forest department. Upon receiving the news, the officials of Panitanki Outpost and Tukriajhar forest department personnel arrived at the spot and brought the situation under control with the assistance of the locals.
Locals are of the opinion that a few youths might have entered in an inebriated state and set the forest area on fire. Significantly, several valuable trees in the forest have been damaged in the incident.
