Family of four ‘electrocuted to death’ in Gajoldoba, surviving daughter in shock

Gajoldoba, 28th September: A tragic accident occurred on Friday evening in the Dhupguri area of Takimari, Rajganj block, resulting in the deaths of four family members, including a two-year-old child due to electrocution. The sole surviving member and the daughter of the family, Sufla, is left devastated as a result of the incident. The deceased include Paresh Chandra Das (70), Dipali Das (60), Mithun Das (35), and their grandson Subrata Adhikari (2).


According to reports, the family engaged in agricultural work and cattle rearing. Paresh Das was bringing a cow home from the field when it came into contact with a live electric wire hanging nearby. In an attempt to save the cow, Paresh was accidentally electrocuted. His son, Mithun, rushed to his help and was also electrocuted. Meanwhile, Mithun’s mother, Dipali, ran to the scene carrying her grandson, and the two were also electrocuted.

The neighbors were not aware of the situation due to the rain. However, later the news spread across the entire area and a crowd quickly gathered at the scene. The daughter of the family, Sufla, was not at home during the incident. Upon learning of the incident, she rushed home and witnessed the deceased bodies of her entire family.


The police officials, led by Officer-in-Charge Sandip Dutta from the Bhorer Alo Police Station, arrived on the scene shortly thereafter. The family was transported to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), where doctors pronounced them dead upon arrival. The tragic loss of four lives from the same family has cast a shadow of grief over the entire community.
