Fake document racket in Siliguri sparks political blame game between TMC and BJP

Siliguri, 03rd July: The recent bust of a fake document racket in Siliguri by the Special Operation Group and Bhakti Nagar police has taken a political turn, with the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accusing each other over the issue.

TMC has alleged that the racket was operating under the protection of BJP leaders and that it is contributing to a rise in criminal activities. In response, BJP has denied the charges and accused TMC of trying to divert attention from its own involvement in illegal activities.

Darjeeling District TMC Chairperson (Plain) Sanjay Tibrewal submitted a memorandum to the Siliguri Police Commissionerate on Wednesday, demanding swift action. Tibrewal cautioned that if no action is taken within three days, the party will return to the police headquarters. He added that the growing threat of cybercrime is linked to the illegal document trade and expressed full confidence in the police, who have assured an investigation.

Meanwhile, BJP Siliguri Organisational District General Secretary Raju Saha hit back, stating that TMC is itself involved in criminal activities. He alleged that TMC is making baseless accusations to deflect attention as evidence against them begins to surface. Saha further added that BJP will initiate legal action against TMC for making false allegations.
