Phansidewa, 19th October: The Excise Department has initiated a campaign against illegal local liquor. On Saturday, the department conducted raids at various locations within the Kamala Tea Estate in Ghoshpukur, Phansidewa.
Reportedly, acting on a tip-off and with the assistance of the Ghoshpukur Outpost police, the Naxalbari Excise Department raided the Girja Line, Shayla Line, Bakul Line, Gandhi Mode, and Ghughujhora areas of the Kamala Tea Estate.
During the operation, a significant quantity of local liquor was destroyed, along with the dismantling of liquor-making equipment. However, no arrests were made during this incident. Officials have indicated that such actions against illegal liquor production will continue in the coming days.
