Elephants go on rampage in Jalpaiguri

Jalpaiguri, 14th November: An atmosphere of terror was witnessed among the locals after two elephants went on a rampage in Jalpaiguri, on Sunday early morning.


It has been learned that two elephants entered the city at around 3 am in the morning and vandalized the wall of Biswabangla COVID Hospital. Following which, they took shelter in a bush near Karala river. High-ranking officials of the forest department and forest workers including the elephant squad were present at the spot. Mridul Kumar, DFO of Jalpaiguri Forest Department Mridul Kumar reached to take stock of the situation.

DFO Mridul Kumar said that surveillance will continue as of now. Drive will be carried out in the evening.
