Elephant rescued after falling into pit at Karla Valley Tea Estate in Jalpaiguri

Jalpaiguri, 12th January: An elephant fell into a pit inside the Karla Valley Tea Estate, located near Jalpaiguri town, causing concern among local residents and forest officials.


According to local sources and the Forest Department, a herd of elephants entered the Karla Valley Tea Estate area late on Sunday night. Of the three elephants in the herd, a young elephant suddenly slipped and fell into a pit within the estate.

Unable to stand up after the fall, the elephant was left in a helpless condition inside the pit. After receiving the alert, Forest Department personnel rushed to the site and began a rescue operation.


Following prolonged efforts, forest officials successfully rescued the elephant from the pit. The animal was later reported to be safe.
