Elephant carcass recovered from a sewer in Kalchini

Kalchini, 21st October: The forest department recovered the carcass of an elephant from the sewer of Nimti tea garden in Kalchini block.


It has been learned that the workers sighted the carcass of an elephant in the sewer of Section 12 of Nimti Tea Garden, on Thursday evening. Following this, the garden authorities informed the Nimti Range of the Forest Department. Upon receiving the news, the Range Officer and forest workers of the Buxa Tiger Reserve reached the spot.

However, the cause of the death has not yet been determined. The forest department primarily assumed that the elephant might have died after falling into the drain. There are no signs of injuries on the animal’s body.
