Kalchini, 17th August: Sensation prevailed in the area of Kalchini after the carcass of an elephant was recovered on Wednesday in the Vijaypur Basti area of Bhatpara in Kalchini.
According to the information, a dead body of an elephant was found lying on barren land in the area. A huge pit was also dug next to the body of the said animal. The Forest Department suspected that the locals might have planned to bury the elephant’s carcass in the grave but were unsuccessful.
The elephant’s body was then recovered by the Forest Department this morning. Officials are investigating the reason behind the death of the animal.
