Siliguri, 09th January: Electric passenger train service from NJP station to Howrah and Sealdah will be launched from January 2020. For the past few days, electric engines have been experimentally run on various routes including Gunjaria-NJP.
Rail sources stated that the NJP-Howrah Shatabdi Express and the NJP-Malda passenger train will currently run on electric engines. The Darjeeling Mail and Padatik Express are also expected to run on electric engines later this month. If all goes well, the first passenger electric train is expected to start from January 13th.
