Siliguri, 26th June: Panic spread in the Shanti Nagar’s Boubazar area of Ward No. 36 after two bike-borne youths snatched a gold chain from an elderly woman during her morning walk. The incident occurred around 5:00 a.m. on Thursday.
As per reports, the victim, Sandhya Kundu, was walking as usual when one youth approached from behind and grabbed her neck, snatching the chain. The other youth waited nearby with the bike for a quick escape. The woman sustained injuries during the scuffle.
This is the latest in a series of snatching incidents across the city, leaving locals concerned about safety and questioning police patrolling. Residents have demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits and stronger police presence in vulnerable areas.
