Siliguri, 09th March: A 70-year-old man was arrested by the Pradhan Nagar Police for allegedly making obscene advances toward a 16-year-old girl in Baghajatin Colony in Siliguri.
The accused, Devraj Gurung, originally from Lebong, had been residing in Baghajatin Colony for the past few months.
According to the complaint lodged by the minor’s family, Gurung had been keeping a close watch on the girl, obtained her phone number, and harassed her through calls.
On the night of 7th March, he allegedly entered the girl’s room and made obscene advances during a conversation. Neighbours intervened after hearing her screams and informed the police.
Gurung was arrested and produced before Siliguri court, and further investigations are ongoing.
