Rajganj, 30th December: The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) approved E-rickshaw drivers’ union, handed over a 5-point memorandum to the Rajganj BDO on Wednesday. Several Toto drivers gathered at Fatapukur and headed towards the BDO office.
Shubhashis Sarkar, Jalpaiguri district secretary of the organization, said that Toto drivers are being given identity cards in different cities including Siliguri and Jalpaiguri. Therefore, they demanded that recognition and government identity cards should be given to the Toto drivers of Rajganj.
The administration should take an initiative to fix a specific stand for the Toto drivers. Due to financial losses during the pandemic, demand has been made to pay 3.5 thousand rupees per month to the drivers. Besides, waiver of electricity bills and interest on loans has been demanded.
