Bagdogra, 01st July: An e-rickshaw driver was arrested after attacking another driver with a sharp weapon near Panighata More, causing a sensation in the area.
According to reports, e-rickshaw driver Shashi Bhushan Jha was transporting students and a teacher to the Central School in the Army Cantonment of Bengdubi while intoxicated. Army personnel turned him away from the entrance due to his inebriation and carrying excess passengers. Subsequently, another e-rickshaw driver, Uttam Sarkar, transported the passengers via Panighata More, sparking jealousy in Shashi Bhushan Jha.
Upon Uttam Sarkar’s return to the e-rickshaw stand, Shashi Bhushan Jha allegedly attacked him with a khukri, resulting in injuries. Locals quickly rescued Uttam Sarkar and took him to Bagdogra Primary Health Center. He later filed a written complaint at Bagdogra police station, leading to the arrest of Shashi Bhushan Jha. The injured driver has demanded a fair trial in the incident.
