Alipurduar, 17th November: The Buxa Hills are currently hosting the Dukpa Living Heritage Festival, showcasing the rich traditions and culture of the Dukpa tribal community. The 3-day festival, which commenced earlier on Sunday, features a variety of cultural events and activities to educate people about the unique heritage of the Dukpa tribe.
Residents from 13 villages in the Buxa Hills, predominantly from the Dukpa community, are participating in the festival. The event is designed to captivate tourists and raise awareness about Dukpa culture through traditional Dukpa dance, Dukpa songs, archery competitions, and other cultural programs.
On Saturday, a traditional food competition was held, showcasing the culinary diversity of the Dukpa people. On Sunday, an archery competition is taking place as part of the ongoing celebrations. Local residents believe that such events will greatly boost tourism in the Buxa Hills.
