DRYF slams posters raising questions to BJP government in Darjeeling

Darjeeling, 02nd August: The Democratic Revolutionary Youth Front (DRYF) raises poignant questions to the BJP-led central government through thought-provoking posters displayed in Darjeeling Chowk Bazar. The posters demand accountability on several issues concerning the aspirations of the Gorkha community.

The posters query, “As the tenure of the BJP-led central government draws to a close, why haven’t the assurances given to the Gorkhas been fulfilled? The central government must provide answers.” Another pressing question raised is, “When will the longstanding demand of the Gorkhas for a separate identity, detached from Bengal, be realized, despite a majority government in the Parliament? Will the Prime Minister of India, who once pledged to make Gorkha’s dream his own, fulfill this promise?”

The posters also demand immediate action from the BJP to fulfill the resolution made to the Gurkhas of the country, with the strong assertion, “Abhi Nahi To Kabhi Nahi” (Now or Never).

Sharad Bishwa, the central joint secretary of the Republican Kranikari Yuva Morcha, further adds his voice to the demand for a permanent political solution for the Gorkhas. He emphasizes that if the BJP fails to provide a separate system for the Gorkhas from Bengal before 2024, they may not witness the same overwhelming support from Darjeeling in the upcoming elections.

These posters reflect the collective voice of the Gorkha community, urging the government to take decisive action and address their longstanding demands for a separate identity and recognition.
