Siliguri, 04th November: Dengue has taken another into its grip claiming a life of a sanitation worker. The deceased has been identified as Dilip Raut (35), a resident of Ambedkar Colony of Ward No. 28 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation.

Reportedly, he had a fever on October 31 and was admitted to the Siliguri District Hospital. The doctors ran some tests and Dilip’s MAC ELISA test came positive. He was then referred to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital due to a sudden decrease in platelets. However, his health continued to deteriorate, later leading to his death on Thursday morning.

In this regard, the TMC councilor of Ward No. 28, Sampreeta Das stated that 15 units of blood were given to Dilip Raut to help increase his platelets. She further maintained that she had deposited four units of blood herself. Apparently, Dilip was the only one in the said ward who was suffering from fever. No one in or around the family is suffering from fever. Councillor Sampreeta Das added that she personally has been inspecting every house in the ward.
