Deceased patient’s family creates ruckus in Bidhannagar Primary Health Centre alleging negligence in treatment

Bidhannagar, 05th September: Enraged over the death of a patient, family members created ruckus at Bidhannagar Primary Health Centre, on Sunday. They alleged medical negligence on the part of the hospital.


As per the report, the deceased, Laxmiram Hansda, was admitted to the said health centre on Sunday with fever and chest pain. The nurse on duty allegedly gave him an injection. Following this, Laxmiram was brought home. However, he fell ill again and was taken back to the health centre, where he died. After the incident, the relatives of the deceased created a ruckus in front of the hospital alleging negligence in treatment. The chaos created a stir in the area. Upon receiving information, the Bidhannagar outpost police reached the spot. 

Addressing the issue, Dr Durlabh Roy, doctor of Bidhannagar Primary Health Centre said that the patient was referred to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital after initial treatment, however, instead of going to the hospital, he returned home. Condemning the allegations, Dr Roy advised the family members to opt for a postmortem of the body if they feel any wrongdoings in the treatment.
