Siliguri, 30th November: The members of the Darjeeling district Trinamool Namasudra and Udbastu Cell have staged a protest rally in Siliguri against the centre. On Thursday, the rally commenced from Baghajatin Park in Siliguri, circumambulated various routes of the city, and concluded at the Airview More.
According to reports, the rally witnessed active participation of the Matuas and the Udbastu Community from various areas including Siliguri. Significantly, Trinamool Namasudra and Udbastu Cell State President, Ranjit Sarkar, was also present during the rally.
In this context, Ranjit Sarkar stated that the CAA was enacted by the central government in 2009, granting citizenship to the Matuas and the Udbastu community. However, the act had not yet been implemented. As a result, in an attempt to mislead the public, Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated the implementation of the CAA in the state prior to the Lok Sabha elections. He further accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of merely making false promises and alleged that the central government is deceiving the underprivileged.
