Kurseong, 25th October: National Highway 55 in Darjeeling district was reopened for vehicular traffic on Monday after remaining shut for the last five-six days. It is to recall, the NH 55 was closed after a massive landslide occurred at Chewri Bhir near Mahanadi in Kurseong on October 19 due to heavy rainfall in the region.
The opening of NH 55 has brought a lot of relief to the people of Tindhare, Ghaiyabari and Mahanadi areas. Although the road has been cleared for small vehicles, however, large vehicles were also witnessed plying through it.
