Siliguri, 10th June: After heavy rains lashed the Dabgram-Fulbari assembly constituency on Tuesday night, several areas including the Jabravita underpass adjacent to IOC is in waterlogged condition, causing problems for the pedestrians.
Locals say that they have been facing extreme difficulties for the last one year as the roads get inundated even after light rainfall. Many times, accidents occur at night due to poor and non-functioning lampposts.
The said underpass is the main route for transporting goods from NJP station, IOC gate, FCI godown to other states and districts. Locals alleged that despite reporting the matter to the administration several times, no action has been taken so far.
Shikha Chatterjee, MLA of Dabgram-Fulbari, inspected the submerged underpass on Thursday. “Such a condition has occurred due to blockage of sewers. As the underpass is under the railway department, the matter has been reported to DRM and ADRM,” Chatterjee stated.
