Alipurduar, 01st April: On Sunday, a devastating cyclonic storm struck Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar districts leaving several casualties and injuries. Additionally, several crops and houses were damaged.
According to reports, the impact of the cyclone was experienced not only in Jalpaiguri but also in Alipurduar. Many houses were severely damaged, trees were uprooted and roads blocked as the cyclone ripped through various areas of the Alipurduar district. One of the most significant losses was in agriculture, as several bighas of crops were destroyed in Alipurduar Block I.
The cyclone further resulted in significant damage to the corn fields in the area and left many families homeless and in distress. Residents are deeply concerned about where they will find shelter for themselves and their family members. Compounding the issue, several people are left with no food or shelter.
