Siliguri, 01st June: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) has launched a scathing attack against the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC), highlighting multiple issues, including the alleged underdevelopment of the Mayor’s Ward and the ongoing drinking water crisis in the city. The party further alleged that Ward No. 33 residents are deprived of essential services.
In response to these concerns, the CPI(M) took the initiative to question the presence and involvement of the Ward Councilor by putting up posters across Ward No. 33 on Wednesday night. However, the posters mysteriously vanished by morning, leading the party to claim that they were deliberately removed by unidentified individuals. This action by the CPI(M) has stirred up a considerable amount of discussion and criticism against the ruling body.
Addressing the matter, former Ward Councillor Asim Saha stated that despite Goutam Deb serving as the Councilor of Ward No. 33 and also holding the position of Mayor in the SMC, there has been a lack of development in the ward, leaving citizens devoid of essential services. Expressing his concerns, Saha raised questions about the Councilor’s presence and the administration’s apparent inability to address the numerous issues plaguing the ward.
Meanwhile, in response to the posters and allegations, Mayor Goutam Deb asserted that he remains in constant communication with the citizens and is well-aware of his duties and responsibilities. He emphasized that the opinions of the opposition are of little concern to him, as he focuses on fulfilling his obligations towards the community.
