Siliguri, 20th May: The CPIM No. 4 Area Committee took to the streets to voice their opposition against the surge in electricity bills. On Monday, protestors convened in front of the Siliguri Electricity Department on SF Road, submitting a memorandum outlining their demands.
Reportedly, the members of the CPI(M) No. 4 Area Committee called for an immediate reduction in electricity charges, citing the burden imposed on residents of West Bengal. CPIM leader Joy Chakraborty attributed the escalating bills to the increasing demand for electricity, holding both central and state governments accountable for the situation.
Chakraborty announced plans for a large-scale rally scheduled for May 24, during which another memorandum will be presented to the Power House located on Siliguri’s Sevoke Road. The Committee remains committed to advocating for fair electricity pricing for the people of the state.
