CPIM candidate dies in road accident after submitting nomination papers in Sitalkuchi

Cooch Behar, 13th June: In a tragic incident, a CPI (M) candidate lost her life after being hit by a speeding dumper while returning from the Sitalkuchi Block Development Office (BDO) in Cooch Behar. The incident occurred in the Boudia Bazar area of the Mathabhanga Sitalkuchi road. The victim, identified as Ayesha Bibi from Khalisamari village, had visited the Sitalkuchi BDO office to submit her nomination papers, accompanied by her son Azad Miyan.


As they were riding their motorbike back home after successfully submitting the nomination papers, a dumper collided with them in the Boudia Bazar area. The impact caused both the mother and son to fall onto the road. Azad Miyan, who was wearing a helmet, survived the accident with injuries while Ayesha Bibi, the CPI (M) candidate, tragically lost her life at the scene.

Following the incident, the injured Azad Miyan was immediately rushed to the Sitalkuchi Block Health Center for medical attention. Meanwhile, the police arrived at the scene, recovered the body of Ayesha Bibi, and sent it to the Mathabhanga mortuary for postmortem examination. The authorities have initiated an investigation into the entire incident to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the collision.
