Naxalbari, 14th June: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and businessman Dilip Barui has been accused by the CPI(M) of encroachment and illegal construction on the road in the DI Fund area of Naxalbari.
According to the allegations, Barui has narrowed the road and seized a portion of it. In response, the Naxalbari CPI(M) area committee filed a complaint with the Naxalbari police station on Thursday and submitted a memorandum to the Naxalbari Gram Panchayat and Hat office. A protest was also organized with party workers to highlight the issue.
Bikash Sarkar, Secretary of the CPI(M) Naxalbari Area Committee, claimed that Barui ignored multiple requests to halt the construction. Sarkar warned that legal action would be pursued if the administration fails to address the situation.
Dilip Barui, the accused BJP leader, countered that his construction is on his own land and alleged that the CPI(M) has occupied their party office on the road. He asserted that he would demolish his construction if it is proven illegal.
Panchayat Pradhan Jayanti Kiro acknowledged receiving the complaint and assured that she will inspect the site before reporting the findings to the Block Development Officer (BDO).
