CPI (M) and Congress stage a rally in Siliguri in support of national strike

Siliguri, 06th January: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Congress jointly staged a rally, today, in Siliguri in support of the strike. Significantly, a nationwide strike has been called on January 8 by 12 labor organizations.


In order to make the strike successful, frequent campaigns are being launched on behalf of the joint labor organizations. In this context, the CPI (M) and the Congress workers staged a rally together, today. The CPI (M) District Convenor Ashok Bhattacharya and the Congress Darjeeling District President Shankar Malakar were present in the rally. The rally commenced from the Baghajatin Park and concluded at Air View More, on Monday.

During the rally, Shankar Malakar stated that the Chief Minister of the State, Mamata Banerjee, was supporting the BJP by not supporting the rally. He further stated that they would take to the streets to make the strike a success and they also hope that the people will support the strike.


Meanwhile, Ashok Bhattacharya stated that the strike was called against the policies of the Central Government. He further stated that he was sure that the people would support the strike.
