Siliguri, 11th November: The new Bailey Bridge over Balasan river will be completed by end of November. Equipment for building the Bailey Bridge has already arrived from Majherhat in Kolkata. Officials claim that the construction of the bridge has progressed a lot.
The Balasan Bridge in Matigara was damaged due to heavy rainfall in October. Since then, plying of heavy vehicles has been suspended. All traffic on the bridge has been suspended since construction work commenced. It is said to be completed by end of November. Vehicles weighing less than 10 tons will be able to use this bridge. However, only one-way traffic will be allowed.
Shishir Dev, an assistant engineer at National Highway 09, said that work will be completed by November. Then light vehicles will ply on this bridge.
