Gajoldoba, 11th December: The much-awaited Gajoldoba Bridge has become operational. On Monday, Chief Minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee virtually inaugurated the newly constructed bridge of Gajoldoba from Tarun Sangha Maidan at Banarhat in Jalpaiguri district. In addition, several services were launched and foundation stones of various projects were laid in Jalpaiguri district.
It has to be noted that, this bridge has been constructed to welcome tourists at the entrance of the Chief Minister’s dream project ‘Bhorer Alo’. The work for further beautification of the mega tourist center is in progress at Gajaldoba in Rajganj block of Jalpaiguri district. The mega tourist center includes cottage homes and boating facilities.
Reportedly, after the official inauguration, a crowd of people was seen at the spot and tourists captured the moments on the bridge with their cameras.
In this regard, Chief Engineer Ajit Kumar Saha stated that the bridge, similar to Sydney Harbour Bridge, was virtually inaugurated by the CM and has been opened to the public. He added that the project was completed in four years at an approximate cost of Rs 109 crore.
