CM Mamata Banerjee announces Rs 85,000 grant for Durga Puja Committees

Rajganj, 23rd July: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced a financial grant of Rs 85,000 for Durga Puja Committees this year, much to the delight of puja organizers. The announcement was made on Tuesday during a meeting with the Durga Puja Committees at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata.


A virtual meeting was simultaneously organized at the Rajganj BDO Office’s Kanyashree Bhawan, connecting puja committees from the Rajganj block and other areas across the state.

CM Banerjee’s government has consistently provided financial support to various puja committees over the years. Initially, the grant started at Rs 25,000 per committee and was increased to Rs 50,000 during the Covid-19 pandemic. Subsequently, the amount was raised to Rs 60,000, then to Rs 70,000 last year, and now to Rs 85,000. Additionally, a 75% electricity waiver has been announced for Durga Puja celebrations this year.


Officials present at the virtual meeting in the Rajganj BDO office included IC Anupam Majumder of Rajganj Police Station, OC Mrinmoy Ghosh of Bhorer Alo Police Station, OC Hirukanti Sarkar of Ambari Outpost, OC KT Lepcha of Belakoba Police Station, and other officials.
