Siliguri, 05th November: A voluntary organization from Siliguri has set up a counter in the surrounding area of Ektiasal Bazar which provides free clothes and food.
According to the information, the garments, shoes, and dry food donated by the people to the organization will be washed and disinfected and then be handed over to the needy free of cost.
An official of the organization said that their main goal for the initiative is to stand by the underprivileged of society. He added that several people have lost their jobs amid the COVID-19 lockdown due to which, they could not eat proper meals nor buy new clothes for Durga Puja.
Apparently, the counter has been running since October 26. People from different parts of Siliguri have come forward to support the initiative and some even donated new clothes.
