Siliguri, 27th May: Tension gripped Siliguri as auto drivers voiced their frustration over the rising number of e-rickshaws in the city. The rampant operation of unregistered e-rickshaws in the city has sparked outrage among the local commuters.
As per reports, there are a huge number of e-rickshaws running in the city. Despite regulations prohibiting e-rickshaws from operating on main roads, these unnumbered vehicles continue to navigate contributing to the traffic congestion. Additionally, the issue remained even after the police administration had undertaken measures to address the issue. Meanwhile, city auto drivers complained that the e-rickshaws have impacted their daily number of passengers.
In this regard, the Venus More Bidhan Road City Auto Owners Association has urgently called for government intervention in this matter. They further expressed that the operation of city autos would permanently come to an end if the government did not intervene.
