Siliguri, 23rd February: Tension spread in Siliguri after a city auto driver was allegedly assaulted following an altercation with a motorcyclist near Hospital More.
According to sources, the incident occurred when the auto driver was passing through the area and got into a verbal dispute with a biker. It has been alleged that the biker attacked the auto driver and thrashed him with a rod and a vehicle key.
The injured driver, identified as Rajib Goldar, claimed that he was verbally abused without any provocation and was assaulted when he protested. He alleged that the accused snatched a vehicle key and struck him on the head and other parts of his body.
He was taken to Siliguri District Hospital, where he received primary treatment. Later, he lodged a written complaint at Siliguri police station.
Upon receiving the information, the secretary and members of the City Auto Union reached the police station and demanded strict action against the accused. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter based on the complaint.
