Siliguri, 02nd October: The Siliguri Metropolitan Police has introduced a new measure to ease the concerns of citizens during Durga Puja. Now, residents can visit puja pandals without worry, as the ‘Anti-Theft Team’ will safeguard homes during the festival.
Typically, incidents of theft and snatching rise when citizens leave their homes for puja celebrations. To combat this, the ‘Anti-Theft Team’ will patrol the streets and neighborhoods on bikes. DCP Traffic Biswa Chand Thakur shared this information, assuring the public that 14 Anti-Theft Teams have been formed under the Siliguri Metropolitan Police.
DCP Thakur explained that thefts usually increase when people leave their homes unattended during puja. In response, these teams will patrol every street and locality of the city, both morning and evening, to prevent incidents of theft.
