Citizens and traffic police launch road safety awareness drive on Siliguri’s Eastern Bypass

Siliguri, 12th January: Concerned citizens took to the streets on Monday to spread awareness and prevent road accidents along the Eastern Bypass in Siliguri. The special awareness programme was organised by Dadabhai Sporting Club on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary, with support from the Ashighar Sub Traffic Guard.

During the drive, bikers riding without helmets were stopped and urged to wear helmets, while messages promoting safe driving practices were shared with motorists. Drivers of heavy vehicles plying along the Eastern Bypass were also instructed to maintain safe distances to avoid accidents.

Members of Dadabhai Sporting Club said that the number of accidents on the Eastern Bypass has been steadily increasing, prompting the joint initiative by local residents and traffic police to raise awareness and reduce future mishaps.

Traffic ACP Anirban Majumdar, OC of Ashighar Sub Traffic Guard Tanay Sarkar, and other traffic police officials were present during the programme.
