Phansidewa, 11th April: During election-related naka checking at the Muraliganj checkpost in Phansidewa under the Siliguri Sub-Division, authorities seized ₹18,98,700 in cash from a vehicle travelling from Siliguri towards Bihar.
Reportedly, the vehicle was intercepted during a joint operation by the SST, police, and central forces. Upon inspection, officials recovered a large amount of cash from the four-wheeler.
The occupants of the vehicle failed to produce valid documents or satisfactory explanation regarding the source of the money. Following this, the entire amount was seized as per election enforcement procedures, and further investigation is underway.
