Bagdogra, 06th January: In a major success against narcotics trafficking, the Intelligence Department of Siliguri Metropolitan Police, along with Bagdogra Police, seized a large quantity of cannabis from a car in the Bagdogra area.
According to police sources, a white car was found parked in the Section No. 6 area of Singijhora Tea Garden under Bagdogra. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered cannabis suspected to be intended for trafficking. However, the driver managed to flee the spot before the police arrived.
During the search, police recovered a total of 10 packets of cannabis weighing approximately one quintal and 500 grams from the car. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth several lakhs of rupees.
Bagdogra Police have seized the vehicle and initiated an investigation to ascertain where the cannabis was being transported and to trace those involved in the smuggling racket.
