Siliguri, 31st December: Siliguri police recovered cannabis worth over ₹1 lakh from a hidden compartment of a truck, arresting one person in connection with the case.
Acting on a tip-off, plainclothes police from NJP police station set up a checkpoint on Canal Road near Fulbari. Around 2 PM on Wednesday, a truck bearing Tamil Nadu registration was stopped in the Chobabhita area of Fulbari. During a search, a significant quantity of cannabis was recovered from the truck’s cabin, with a market value estimated at over ₹1 lakh.
According to police sources, the consignment was being transported from Cooch Behar to Kolkata. The truck used for smuggling has been seized and brought to the police station. The arrested driver will be presented before the Jalpaiguri court on Thursday. The entire incident remains under investigation.
