Campaign launched against vegetable price hike in Regulated Market

Siliguri, 09th September: In view of the sky-rocketing price of potatoes in various markets across the city, the administrative officials, on Wednesday, launched a campaign in Siliguri’s Regulated Market and Champasari Bazar to curb the black market.


Reportedly, the Agricultural Marketing Department as well as the Secretary of Regulated Market, under the leadership of the Deputy Magistrate, conducted an operation in the aforementioned markets and interacted with the traders.

Anil Sharma, Secretary of Siliguri’s Regulated Market, stated that potatoes are being sold at Rs 25 per kg in the Regulated Market, meanwhile, the rate in other markets has been reported to be around Rs 35 to 40 per kg. All the traders have been asked to clear the stock of potatoes as soon as possible.


Sharma further stated that the campaign was launched today following the instructions of the state government.
