Businessmen write to CM and Minister of Public Works and Urban Development demanding ownership of shops in Bidhan Market

Siliguri, 24th November: On Friday, the businessmen of Bidhan Market wrote letters to the Chief Minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee and Minister of Public Works and Urban Development Firhad Hakim demanding ownership of business establishments in Bidhan Market. The program organized under the initiative of Bidhan Market Byabsayee Samiti commenced in the morning and will continue till 4 p.m.


According to reports, the traders of Bidhan Market have actively participated in the protest demonstrations and rallies demanding the ownership of the stores for a long time. The market, despite being under the Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA), demands of the traders were allegedly left unaddressed.

In response, the traders initiated writing to the CM and Minster of Public Works and Urban Development regarding the issue. The businessmen have also cautioned of resorting to a massive agitation in the future, upon failure to address their demands.
