Siliguri, 29th October: A businessman’s bag containing gold and cash was snatched at gunpoint in Shantinagar, under Ward No. 36 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, on Wednesday night. Siliguri Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Since Thursday morning, police personnel from Bhakti Nagar Police Station, the Detective Department and Ashighar Police Outpost have been investigating the incident. Investigators are examining various lanes in the area and speaking with local residents and eyewitnesses. CCTV footage from the surrounding area is also being reviewed to identify those involved.
Local residents said they had not encountered a similar incident in the area before. Expressing concern over security, they have demanded the swift arrest of the accused and increased police surveillance.
No arrests have been made so far. Police are continuing their investigation to identify those involved in the incident.
