Siliguri, 12th August: The Naxalbari branch of Paschim Banga Vigyan Manch organized a blood donation camp in the Tukriajhar Range of the Kurseong Forest Department on Monday. The event has been organized to mark World Elephant Day and address the ongoing blood shortage.
The camp saw the participation of several notable figures, including ADFO Rahul Dey Mukherjee, Gopal Dey of Vigyan Manch, Animesh Basu of NAF, former teacher and Vigyan Manch member Paritosh Chakladar, and Biplab Roy, among others. Although the initial goal was to collect 50 units of blood, the camp successfully gathered 20 units.
Participants included forest workers and members of Vigyan Manch, all contributing to the cause by donating blood. The collected blood will be sent to the blood bank at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH). Abhijit Sarkar of Vigyan Manch emphasized that the camp was organized both for World Elephant Day and to help alleviate the blood shortage in the region.
