Siliguri, 23rd May: Siliguri reported its first, what seems to be, black fungus case amid the COVID-19 pandemic after a resident of the city showed symptoms of the infection. The patient is currently admitted to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. However, her reports have not yet arrived.
As per the doctors, the woman is showing symptoms of black fungus or mucormycosis in her body and has been kept under observation. Susant Roy, OSD of North Bengal Public and Health said that the infection is not a new disease and that it has happened in the past. The woman has been admitted to the ENT department.
According to sources, the woman had tested positive for the coronavirus a few days ago. After recovering, her eye and face swelled and her eyesight also decreased.
