Siliguri, 02nd September: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a ‘SDO Office Gherao’ campaign in Siliguri on Monday to protest the R.G. Kar incident. BJP leaders and supporters gathered at the SDO office located at Vivekananda Bhavan in Mallaguri.
In anticipation of the demonstration, police had set up barricades and positioned water cannons, deploying a large force to maintain order.
Reportedly, tensions escalated as BJP workers arrived, resulting in clashes with police. Members of the BJP Mahila Morcha brought down parts of the barricade.
The situation grew increasingly heated, leading to scuffles between police personnel and BJP activists. The protest continued on the streets as BJP leaders and members voiced their discontent.
